About
Hi my name is Carlos Gonzalez, I created Charleston racing league to try and make a community here in Charleston that doesn’t just compete online but gets together in person and creates opportunities for us to make real friends and connections on the virtual track and off.
Due to the motives of why I Charleston Racing League has come to exist in the first place, almost all membership fees(some will go to costs for maintaining the league) will go right back to the competitors in the form of prizes at the end of the championship season in the form of a banquet acknowledging all those who competed, and those who shone brighter than the rest. I am not creating this to make money but simply to create a connected community to be able to enjoy and meet.
This is a very early part of the journey and I hope that you will join us in creating a thriving, close, and connected sim racing community here in the larger Charleston area.
When does the season start?
May 3rd is the target for the start of the first ever Charleston Racing League championship.
What Sim are the races hosted on?
All races will be hosted on private servers on iRacing.
What series will be raced in the league?
Formula, Sports car, and Oval
How long is a season in the league?
Each season would last a quarter(3 months).
What are the perks of being a member?
You can connect on discord and compete with fellow racers in the larger Charleston area. You will also be invited to the banquet at the end of each season to celebrate the closure of the season and to crown a champion and hand out prizes for different categories. With whatever funds aren’t used on trophies and prizes will most likely be used to create a pre-paid tab for 21+ competitors.
What does the race weekend schedule look like?
All events would take place on Sunday with a poll throughout the week to choose what time would work best for league members. there would be 20 mins of group practice(of course you can practice the track throughout the week on your own), 10 min of qualifying, and then 30 min of racing. We are choosing this format to keep events short and concise to help make it easier to fit it into your schedule and not take up too much of your weekend time.
What if I can’t make it to a race?
While we understand that our schedule may not always fit yours, we have to maintain competitive integrity and mark you as a DNS and you will not receive a refund or points for that missed race.
